Wind Band Concerts in Melbourne Our friends at Blackburn High School have written to us about an exciting concert that they are hosting:

In a few weeks Blackburn High School is hosting a visit from a very fine
youth band from Germany. The seventy-five piece, Junge Blaeserphilharmonie
Ulm is performing in a joint concert with Blackburn High School's award
winning Symphonic Band on Tuesday August 4, at One Community Church Hall,
184 Surrey Rd., Blackburn, 7:30pm. Tickets $5 at door.

Junge Blaeserphilharmonie Ulm is rated as the finest contemporary youth wind
band in Germany and it will be an exciting concert of top level windband
repertoire.

Apart from wanting to make you all aware of this, I would also appreciate it
if you could print the attached flyer and distribute it at your school(s)
and at any other organisations for whom this may be of interest.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Wind Band Concerts in Melbourne Dear All,

Please have a look at the attached advertisement from Melbourne University for its upcoming band concert. I have been working closely with the ‘powers that be’ within the University to try and consolidate its band program.

Wind Band Concerts in Melbourne According to 4 Bars Rest Downunder, as well as the usual performances, The Nationals provided plenty of work for idle hands, including arson and theft. Just another warning to people who leave valuables lying around.

"The whole of Sunday's cash takings for door, program and souvenir sales (including the gala concert), were stolen from an office in the foyer of The Centre Ivanhoe.... estimates are in the vicinity of $7000. The cash takings from the previous days had been secured elsewhere and were not stolen."

"A number of players also had personal belongings and money stolen whilst they were on stage performing."

"A fire was deliberately lit in one of the upper rooms of The Centre Ivanhoe, during the course of the A Grade test selection. The timing of the fire alarms occured between bands, and the building was not evacuated. The disruption to the flow of the session was minimal."
